I recently stumbled across an article by the Guardian (well, when I say recently…) and thought it share-worthy.
Amid all the discussions around AI and the worries that interpreters and translators might soon be replaced, it’s nice to read such encouraging words, such praise for our profession.
“But there is an art to everything, and the art of the interpreter is sophisticated and subtle in the extreme. I cannot imagine how they do what they do.”
Whenever I read or hear such comments on the necessity of a person, a human interpreter doing their job instead of a machine – however intelligent it may be – I have hope that I can keep doing what I love for the rest of my career.
